Dear Members,
As we enter the final 15 days of our advocacy days preparation (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=1437978) we would like to thank our members that have indicated that they would be coming to DC on June 7 and 8. We also want to thank all State chapters, volunteers and action item leaders that have been helping out with the effort behind the scenes. The massive planning, coordination and implementation cannot happen without the support of each and every member. Help has ranged from phone call campaigns, media campaigns, lawmaker meetings, document preparation, state chapter activities, accommodation initiatives, reaching out to various employers and like minded organizations etc.
We still have a long way to go in our coordination and implementation. IV membership is working hard to make this event a success. The advocacy day work is being implemented at this time and lawmaker office appointments are being sought. Everyone that has indicated their presence for this event will be contacted personally. We are planning an impressive congressional reception event on June 8, in DC and expect several lawmakers, staffers and leaders of other like minded organizations attending the reception. It will be a great opportunity for IV members to meet these important representatives. There is also going to be a notable Press event on June 8 that we are planning. There are several initiatives being taken that we will be announcing in the days leading up to these events. The event is in itself a huge task that requires planning from getting space for various parts of this event, space for gathering of all IV members (situation room) to transporting all advocacy day material, providing training sessions for members, getting appointments from lawmaker offices, inviting reporters, press release to details like photocopying documents for each meeting, folders and digital advocacy media with IV branding and soft copy of all IV documents as a leave behind in every lawmaker office.
We recently invested thousands of dollars per year subscription in providing an easy advocacy and media contact interface for our members, Refer to http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=1519451
These emails, letters and communications will help us with more effective and targeted advocacy to help get much needed attention for our issues. All this will need investment from IV and we can do it only if our members support us in this huge task by contributing funds as well as time. We already invest a lot in the advocacy effort we do on regular basis.
IV effort needs 50 thousand dollars in the next 15 days to make sure we can meet our immediate needs and also make a big impact via this advocacy day events. We can plan more ideas like full page ads in national newspapers if we can have sufficient resources. This event will most certainly bring our issues to the national center stage and help us get much needed immigration relief in the months ahead.
We are a small grassroots organization with a strong resolve and when we all pool in our energies, intelligence and resources; we can all collectively create wonders. We do not want our limited funds to stop us from going all out. Despite our fulltime jobs, IV core is committed to work harder and we are happy to have the asset of a large IV community to support us in this mammoth task.
This post is to urge everyone to come forward and help yourself in this short term funding drive. If you have not contributed till now, please consider contributing. If you cannot make it to DC due to personal or professional reasons then do show your admiration for our effort. If you have recently received your green cards, then please consider contributing as a way of celebrating and endorsing our effort. Times are tough for any immigration relief and in tough times we have to work harder to get anything done. Your contribution, words of support and enthusiasm helps everybody to maintain higher level of motivation which is so important for this kind of community effort. It is up to each member if you feel from your heart to contribute towards this cause. If you decide to contribute, you can either easily contribute via our website page
http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=44. or you could send us a check. We suggest individual contributions of $50/$100 to cover the cost of this event.
We request each and every member reading this post to please contribute. We will continue to post updates that will make us all feel proud and part of this organization. Thank you for your support. Please keep it up.
Thanks

Yes. You need to write name and A# behind the photos with a soft tipped pencil as per USCIS instructions.
Did anyone received AP even though they didn't write Name & A# on back of the photos?

Simple and yet we have not acted purposefully. I have a strong feeling that this visa grab is still going on. HLG has sent out another immigration alert to all registered emails, similar to one posted on Feb 9, 2007. . And I quote a bit
FEBRUARY 12, 2007
ADVOCACY ALERT:
RETROGRESSION: WE'RE GETTING CLOSE
.......
Stopping this 'unused visa grab' for only one section of retrogressed and demanding it for all retrogressed is a sure WIN for us, if it happens; if it is stopped, it will make a tectonic shift the focus to the whole gamut of issues of retrogression, backlogs etc and will put more pressure on Congress to act.
I have seen and read all the posts in this thread started by me. I appreciate all points and posts, particularly by core team.
The least we can do is write and fax to Congress and demand. The IV team should set up a fax, so that each of us here can protest these moves by Congress without considering other severely backlogged applications. For this I propose a simple message.
Sir/Madam:
We are severely affected by retrogression and lack of visa numbers. Many of us, high skilled workers are waiting since 2001 for our Priority Date to become current.
We understand, as openly trumpeted by Hammond Law Group (reference: a post by HLG on Friday, February 09, 2007 at http://hammondlawgroup.blogspot.com/ and an email sent out by HLG on Monday, February 12, 2007) that the 110th Congress is considering allocating 90,000 unused visas from EB3 category EXCLUSIVELY for Sch. A workers. They had been given relief of 50,000 unused visas once in 2005.
We protest such a biased action. We had tried to reach many members of the house and senate and presented the above issue to them. Still our issues have not been resolved. We demand relief at equal footing. Do not appropriate all unused visas to one single category of affected workers.
Next one/two days are crucial. Let's make a difference.
Note:
1) In the above, I am trying to be focused, addressing one issue at a time. Backlogs, Slowness, Finger Prints are also other genuine issues. Let us stop the greedy stealing by HLG and their ilk.
2) If for whatever reason IV will not come up with a web fax, a few of us must act individually and let the congressmen and senators know of our protest. I had faxed to a few Congressmen and Senators, from the fax machine at my workplace. Believe me, these types of protests have worked in the past.

Only god knows what processes, rules and regulations they follow. I am glad that i am maintaining H1B status with my I-485 and never used EAD.
Its just so disturbing that you are at the mercy of USCIS who didn't know anything about how to look and process the application.
when you use AC21 it means you used EAD right ?
How can you use AC21 and still be on H1 ? could you give us more info on this pls.

Unfortunately not.. AP is only for 1yr. You see in these tough times both US gov. and our attorneys need to make some extra cash..
Are they approving parole for two years similar to EAD?

Well 50k we are getting like this.
1) EB1 Over Flow (50% of EB1 was unused last year) 46k/2= 23k
2) EB2 Over Flow , this number is still fuzzy. But lets say around 10k.
3) EB2 India has quota of 3500.
So approx 40k.
If I understand correctly, but out of this 40k or 50k only 20K are available for use before Sep 30th.

I m a new applicant for EB 3 gc born in india.....just starting my process......with my PD being sometime in later half of 2009,do u think canada is a better option?......EB 3 india right now looks like a good 10-12 years wait time!!.......pls advice about canada immigration and is it a viable option?
You stand a better chance of getting it through your kids if they are citizens than getting it through EB3. There are a few options to get green card faster. Canada is not one of them.
1. Get a Ph.D, get a job in a univ and apply in EB-1.
2. Get a MBA and get a management job and apply in EB-1.
3. Become a religious worker in some temple and apply in the religious worker category.

I have been thinking about whether to attend the rally or not from past few weeks. Attending the rally would require me to take a day off. Finally today without thinking twice I just went to my manager asked if I can take day off on 9/18 instead compensate the work in the following saturday. It was approved and I am attending the rally on 9/18!
I am feeling so good now.
Also, I live in DC area and can help if somebody needs to be picked from airport to the rally and drop them back if needed.
Hope to see thousands on 9/18th...
ALL THE BEST TO OUR CAUSE!
Regards.
Anucks, what great news!!! You are really committed and your sacrifice in working on Saturday will really pay off! Congratulaions on your decision, you will NOT regret it!!!!

I share your concern, there were more than 905 in that period, I don't think the DOL data sheets have any data for NOv 04 to MAr 05. I'm not sure of the source of the original post...
I believe this is because of PERM implementation. PERM was started in March'05 and it was announced in Oct'04. Mnay companies (I know few for sure) might not applied during that period (period of uncertainity). and even after March'05 many companies were reluntacnt to apply right away. They want to see how other cases turns out. Also note that till Sep'05 EB2- Ind was current so many EB2 cases approved approved in initail phase were also got approved before Sep'05.

Check this thread which is dedicated to such questions. I think if you get married after your I-485 gets approved, it's a sign of trouble since your spouse will get into the family based category which is heavily backlogged for certain countries.

My pd is jan 2005 and i was waiting for the dates to become current.I am not married and will most probably get married by this year end[parents in the process of searching matches].my dilemma is whether to apply for 485 now or not.can i add my wife's name later on while the 485 is in the final stages of the process[say an year after the process began] or just before the green card is being dispatched etc so that both of us can get green cards.i dont want to miss this chance because i seriously feel that the dates might retrogress again.but if i apply and get a green card u all know how many years it will take to get wife to usa in family based immigration.somebody please clear my doubt.Thank you

And yes, my contribution to IV so far as been $1000 and involvement in other drives. Your question to me regarding my contribution made me squirm a bit since you might have categorized me with many of IV's freeloaders. That's just like Americans asking me all the time "Are you on an H1-B visa and do you work for a bodyshopper". :)
But I will work on making new contributions as well.
Contribution so far: $1000
Dont take anything personel... I am asking this to all members of the IV.
Lot of people giving me red dot for asking. never mind and focus on the core issues..

This is a slippery slope,
"would create a quota exemption for certain highly skilled immigrants who have at least three years of U.S. work experience"
the keyword is "certain", in skil that "certain" meany MS or PHD, what does this certain mean, it all depends on the definition of certain, it would be nice if the use the same definition of skil (masters and phd)

I thought A# is in I-140 approval notice.
It will still take many months for uscis to process our I-140 application.
I got the LIN number by calling USCIS...but have not got the receipt notice till now...
As there is an A# on I-140 form which needs to be written on all 485, 765 and 131 forms....i hope i get it in a day or two....
I-140 filed : July 12th
Reached NSC : July 16th
Receipt generated : July 16th
Still waiting for receipt Notice. :(
