    Hi All,

Would like to know if anyone has any H1B extensions approved/RFE's/denied (whether regular or premium processing) after the January 8 USCIS memo. Please indicate whether full-time or consultant.

I applied for H1B extension - receipt date December 23rd, 2009. Upgraded to premium on January 21, 2010 (Jan 21 date updated in case status on USCIS website). Working as full-time - (empoloyer is not into consulting), Extension is for 3 years beyond 6 years, I-140 approved.

Also, anyone know how long does it take these days for extensions under Premium processing to be approved.

    Thanks

I know that most of the people on this forum are EB filers. However, for the few stragglers here who are filing in the family based category, please share your experience on filing the I-751 (petition to remove the condition on the GC). Specifically, I'd like to know the following:

    - Estimated time from filing date to receipt of permanent GC
    - Did you have interview with USCIS?
    - Compare / contrast with first interview during the AOS process.

    Thanks

New York Yankees designated hitter Hideki Matsui, a Japanese native, just hit a beautiful home run in game 2 of the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Matsui is an unusual player because he bats left-handed and throws right-handed. The 35-year old Matsui was a star in Japan before he was recruited to play for the Yankees in 2003. He's the first Japanese player to hit 100 or more homers in the Major League. Matsui also has the odd distinction of being the player selected by Paul Rudd for a fantasy baseball draft in the movie Knocked Up and he...

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$GOOD MORNING GC$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    Deadline = April 30th, 2011
Goal = 5000 votes on survey (see I-485 filing w/o current PD thread) and momentum to continue with this campaign. The survey is a platform to gather and push for launching action items. Based on response by 04/30/2011 - IV will decide whether to even proceed with initiative or not.
Actions - 1) Vote on survey.
    2)Email ivcoordinator@gmail.com with PD, ph#,email & subject "I485 filing impacted,
3)Print/Circulate Fliers and spread FB, wiki link (see "support thread")

This is a supporting thread to the "Want to File I-485 without Current Priority Date? Gather here" thread started by pappu.

As suggested by pappu/starsun, this supporting thread provides impacted members with additional information and tools to help the initiative.

Visit Immigration Voice Wiki (http://immigrationvoice.org/wiki/index.php/Employment_Based_Green_Card#Process_.28EB1.2C_EB2. 2C_and_EB3.29) - for overview of Employment Based - Green Card process
Visit I485 Filing w/o current PD Wiki (http://immigrationvoice.org/wiki/index.php/Current_Grass-Roots_Initiative_-_I-485_Filing_without_Current_Priority_Date) - for overview of this initiative

As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.

The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What can you do to participate?
    1) Vote on the poll/survey created by Pappu.

    http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum14-members-forum/1599353-want-to-file-485-when-pd-is-not-current-gather-here.html

Then please send an email to ivcoordinator@gmail.com (starsun) with subject - "I485 filing without current PD - Impacted Member". Include your a) IV username b) Email address c) Phone #, d) State of Residence e) Priority Date - so that grassroot efforts can be coordinated

    2) Print out below Flier and circulate at all asian/indian malls/groceries/theaters. Forward the flier to your friends/co-workers and ask them to do the same.

    I485 Filing Initiative Flier (http://immigrationvoice.org/wiki/images/a/a8/Flier_I485_latest2.pdf)

    3) Volunteers have created a facebook community and an Immigration Voice WIKI page to spread the message about this initiative. Please circulate these links among your friends/co-workers who will be helped.

Please "Share" and "Link" and "send to friend" the facebook community via your Facebook account. Also include these two links when you post on the IV forum.

Facebook - IV I485 filing w/o current PD initiative community (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Immigration-Voice-Grass-roots-Campaigns/150562351660693?v=info)

(Just FYI that you might have to be logged in for the above link to direct to the facebook community. Alternately, search for "Immigration Voice Grass-roots Campaigns" to find the community after logging in. Search "Immigration Voice" to go to the IV's main facebook page)

Voters' contempt for Congress rises (http://www.mercurynews.com/search/ci_7297497?IADID=Search-www.mercurynews.com-www.mercurynews.com) POLL: PELOSI'S NUMBERS TAKE ANOTHER DIVE By Frank Davies (fdavies@mercurynews.com or (202) 662-8921) | Mercury News Washington Bureau, 10/27/2007

WASHINGTON - California voters continue to disapprove of Congress even more than they do of President Bush, and for the first time Speaker Nancy Pelosi's ratings are more negative than positive, according to a Field Poll released today.

The poll found that 22 percent of state voters approve of Congress' job performance, with 64 percent disapproving. The discontent was bipartisan, with 70 percent of Republicans, 63 percent of independents and 58 percent of Democrats giving Congress negative marks.

Those findings, taken in a survey of 1,201 voters from Oct. 11 through Oct. 21, track national surveys. A Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll during the same period also found a 22 percent approval rating for Congress. A CBS Poll registered a 27 percent approval rating.

Bush earned a 27 percent approval rating from voters in the same Field Poll.

Political analysts give several reasons for the low marks: Democratic voters' dissatisfaction over the inability to change Iraq war policy, Republicans' opposition to Pelosi and other Democratic leaders, and a sense by many voters that Congress can't come to grips with tough issues such as immigration.

"Republican reaction has remained about the same this year, but the real trend is that rank-and-file Democrats and non-partisans are displeased because they expected more from the Democratic Congress," said Mark DiCamillo, director of the Field Poll.

Pelosi, a San Francisco Democrat, earned a 48 percent approval rating in March, two months after Democrats took over Congress. That dropped to 39 percent in August and 35 percent in October, with 40 percent disapproving and 25 percent registering no opinion.

"Iraq is the anchor weighing down Bush," DiCamillo said, "and now it's an anchor on Pelosi because of the complete inability of Congress to change course on the war."

Pelosi and other Democratic leaders held meetings in the last week to find ways to improve their "message" about what they call the New Direction Congress, highlighting such legislation as the minimum wage increase and ethics reform.

Despite the low marks for Congress, Republicans had little to cheer about in the new Field Poll. Voters gave an approval rating of 34 percent to Democrats in Congress, and 20 percent to Republicans.

Only 29 percent of Republican voters in California approved of the GOP performance in Congress, with 53 percent registering disapproval.

"That 2-to-1 disapproval by their own party really jumps out," DiCamillo said. "Republicans in Congress are now playing 'prevent defense' for Bush on the war and on domestic issues, and Republicans in this state do not approve of that."

The state's two senators, Democrats Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, earned higher marks than Pelosi and Congress overall, but the approval ratings for each senator dropped 10 percentage points since March.

The survey showed that 51 percent of all voters approved of Feinstein's job, with 31 percent disapproving. Boxer's approval rating was 44 percent positive and 35 percent negative.

    A Bad Deal Gets Worse (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/05/opinion/05sun2.html) August 5, 2007

President Bush is understandably desperate for some kind of foreign policy success. But that cannot justify sacrificing his principled stand against weapons proliferation to seal a nuclear cooperation deal with India. The agreement could end up benefiting New Delhis weapons program as much as its pursuit of nuclear power.

The deal was deeply flawed from the start. And it has been made even worse by a newly negotiated companion agreement that lays out the technical details for nuclear commerce. Congress should reject the agreement and demand that the administration, or its successor, negotiate a new one that does not undermine efforts to restrain the spread of nuclear weapons.

Any agreement needs to honor the principle Mr. Bush set forth in 2004: that countries do not need to make their own nuclear fuel, or reprocess their spent fuel, to operate effective nuclear energy programs. The technology can be all too easily diverted to make fuel for a nuclear weapon.

Unfortunately, Mr. Bushs accord with India jettisoned that essential principle. Washington capitulated to Indias nuclear establishment and endorsed continued reprocessing. And while United States law calls for nuclear cooperation to end if India detonates another weapon, the agreement makes no explicit mention of that requirement while it promises that Washington will acquiesce, if not assist, in Indias efforts to find other fuel suppliers.

Bringing India which never signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in from the cold is not a bad idea. It is the worlds most populous democracy, with a dynamic economy. And its record on nonproliferation aside from its own diversion of civilian technology to its once-secret weapons program is pretty good. The problem is that the United States got very little back. No promise to stop producing bomb-making material. No promise not to expand its arsenal. And no promise not to resume nuclear testing.

The message of all this is unmistakable: When it comes to nuclear proliferation, Washingtons only real policy is to reward its friends and punish its enemies. Suspicion of Americas motives around the world are high enough. America cannot afford another such blow to its credibility, especially when it is trying to rally international pressure against nuclear programs in Iran and North Korea.

The administration will argue that altering this agreement now would be a slap at India. But there is no good in compounding a bad deal. And there are better ways to deepen political and economic ties.

Congress accepted the administrations arguments far too uncritically when it approved the first India-related nuclear legislation last December. It must now take a stand against the even more damaging companion agreement. At a time when far too many governments are re-examining their decision to forswear nuclear weapons, the United States should be shoring up the nuclear rules, not shredding them.

I'm back from Spain and as you can see from the flurry of posts from last night and this morning, I'm catching up on some of the items I wanted to note in the blog. Some of you commented about today's Immigrants of the Day already, but it's worth recognizing them in a separate post. He has worked in academia and in the private sector over the years including working at Yale and ITT Corporation. Canadian-born Willard Boyle was cited for "the invention of an...

    Hi,

I am EB3 candidate, with estimate to get GC in 2032. Since Visa recapture bill is not on table. And is part of Immigration Reform Bill (part of reform for illegal people); considering fact that Health Care opposition, election year, 10% unemployment & other unknown factors; I do not see any hope of changing law for employment base (no hope for visa recapture).

Do seniors or admin team see any hope for EB3 candidate?

    take care.
