It means USCIS has pre-adjudicated your I-485 if it was filed before october 2008.

I hope so..
But checking my July 2007 I485 online status, it says it was last updated in Dec 2007..
Shouldn't we all have got recent LUDs or RFEs if all of us were recently pre-adjugated

Nope and I just filed for my first exension.


but my Licences expires on Sept 2008, So I will I be just getting the extension till Sept 2008 and Not 3 year extension.


That just sounds ridiculous... what does your driver's license have to do with your H1B extension?
It's true that the length of your H1 extension determines the validity of your DL i.e. if you get an extension until 2010 the DMV will only issue a DL valid till 2010, but the opposite is not true, unless we're living in the Twilight Zone.

I called Rep Lamar Smith office. The lady who picked up the phone asked me we are getting lot of calls. She asked me are you in supprot of the bill? I told her yes. I also told her that I am having master's degree from USA. My children are top student but may not get admission in some of NJ medical college just because we did not get GC since last 7 years. So we need help from Rep Lamar Smith to make USA more competitive. She also wanted to know that from where I was calling.

She told me that she will convey the message to Rep Lamar Smith.

I am in too...How can we organize all the members...70,000 is a lot of people, Any thing done effectively and efficiently will make an impact.

That's the main issue we are facing. People come on discussion forums and talk big, but when it comes to actual execution - it is very few people who actually do things and there is no regulation.

Thats why IV created state chapters where people can organize themselves and follow directives from our lobbyists and collective work towards campaigns

Our issues are real and affect about a million people patiently waiting in line for past several years. We are high-skilled immigrants who have followed all the rules and contribute significantly to the innovation and economy of this county. Our strength is our grassroots efforts, so let us all call our lawmakers and ask them to take immediate action on the immigration bill.

Immigration Voice is organizing a nationwide call-the-lawmakers drive. We request members to call each and every senator and congress member. This drive will precede the ‘Advocacy Day(s)’ in Washington, DC and ‘Meet the lawmaker’ drive in local districts. Members can use this phone call conversation with their local lawmaker offices to follow-up with lawmakers when they meet during the break just after the Memorial day.

This is the perfect time to call the lawmakers. The bill needs a push via support from people like us and all lawmakers needs to be encouraged and urged to help us. If you belong to the constituency (State) of the lawmaker, then tell them that you belong to their district/state and are calling to seek their help. If you are talking to a Senator office then tell them you are anxiously waiting for a Senators support for the immigration bill.

Then ask: What is the lawmaker’s position on immigration proposal? If the position is
- Supportive: Then thank the lawmaker office for it.

- If they oppose it: Then request them to support the high skilled green card provisions of the bill that will greatly help you. You sincerely hope that the lawmaker will reconsider his/her position and help you.

Question What if some Senators say they do not support amnesty. -

Answer "For last 10 years there has been no High-skilled immigration bill passed by the Congress. The world has changed in last 10 years. I understand that the Senator is a champion for creating more jobs in America. Employment based green cards will create jobs in America. I want to start my own company and hire people in America. But I cannot do that if I don't have a green card.

I would sincerely request you to please convey to the Senator if he would consider supporting some version of the immigration
giving more weight to green cards and creating jobs in America, or maybe the Senator could lead the effort for improving the proposal"

I personally believe that PD is more significant than the RD but it makes sense to me that RD may take precedence if the PD is current (as suggested by some members of the forum).

But if we think that at all times RD is the order they process them what would happen in this scenario

1. A guy with 2001 PD filed later and was 750,000 th guy in the queue of AOS applications.

2. After accepting all the apps USCIS retrogressed the dates to 2002 Jan. That means that USCIS is asking for AOS apps which satisfy this PD. That means that a visa no is available as of that date for adjudication so the first new application received(after they are retrogressed) will be 750,001 th application.

3. If RD is the only processing order at all times then 750,001th application will not be sent to an officer for review until all other 750,000 th applications with a better RD are processed.

4. Assuming that this takes 3 years (for example) then they are accepting an application today which they are not going to even look at in the next three years and this is not making sense to me.

5. If they are accepting the 750,001 th application because that application qualifies for a visa no then that should be processed before the other applications(barring for special cases FBi name check issues, RFEs etc). This means PD comes into picture when there is retrogression. So then they have to apply the same rule for the I-485 applications which are pending with them. They some how have to order them on the PD and I assume this should not be rocket science for them as that data is part of our AOS applications.

Well....what happened was in line with what USCIS has done in the past..Last year they made the PD's current and then made it unavailable...this year they jumped the PD by 2.5 years and so the next thing was obviously to retrogress it back by 1 year behind the original date...

For the first time they have not surprised me !!!!!

Receipt date is not the date when the application reaches the service center. It is infact the date when your application is entered into their internal system which could be several days after the application has reached the service center.

And all application they enter into the system.. then give us a Receipt Date Right ... from that time we can apply for EAD / AP (will take time again)
