I was wondering about DOL letter which my employer received yesterday..for Recruitment process for 30 days..I wanted to know is it because of the conversion we did to RIR process some days back or is it just that they caught up with my TR application after 5 years..TR-Oct 2001

I believe the 140 backlog is artificial. They processed only 2k cases in one month. How come they finished all EADs in 3 months for all June/July filers? There is something more to all this than meets the eye.
Bootmline is they want to make it hard for us one way or the other. Btw, I had just come out of BEC and got stuck with 140 now.

what is the scenario for someone like me who would file I-140 in the next couple of months?
what are the chances of Schedule A being alloted additional visa numbers in the next 2 years?
how much wait time would be expected under EB 3 category for India for someone whose priority date wud b oct or nov'07???

You people seem to be too nationalistic. Even with the comments about quotas. Affiirmative action with 52% of all seats being reserved based on caste? You call this fair?

Something just popped up from my family.
I filed concurrent 140-485-765-131 in Nebraska.
DHL delivered the package on 1st of february.
My checks were not yet cashed and I did not get any reply from USCIS (and neither did my lawyer).
My lawyer said it is impossible and I am better off refiling but this implies redoing a lot of things that cost money and time.
How can I try to expedite without a receipt number?

They are talking about the EB-3 Other Worker category, NOT EB-3 India (one row below EB-3-I in the bulletin)

I would say to follow your attorney's advice though I don't think of any issues with going for premium processing as you are with the same employer. My friend has recently filed I-140 under regular processing and got approval within 2 1/2 months. Just make sure if your attorney submitted porting request while filing new I-140 under EB2. All the best.

Thanks for ur support and understanding. I think we better let these guys take a shot at what they are about to do. Immature and narrow minded is what they are and thats how they wanna be. Looks like they've been watching those Indian vigilante movies a lot and they think that they can get away with fighting a foreign Govt agency. They'll understand what we meant when they receive a cold shoulder from USCIS :D.

Hi,
Does anyone has recently got I-485 approval after porting priority date from earliar EB3 filing.
My I-140 got approved 2 weeks back and based on priority date, I am current. Ny EB3 485 was filed in July 2007.
How long it is taking for I485 to get approved after I-140 approval when the priority date is current.

Although they are not supposed to pre assign numbers without name checks etc, is'nt it obvious that they might have done that??. They have a lot of cases to approve until Sept 30(from that 60,000 number)
no its not obvious. They have a big backlog of 485s still, and that 60,000 visa numbers can be used up without them having to assign some of those numbers to June 07 filers. See the ombudsmans report for details. If anything, they'll keep some of those visa numbers for people who have been in namecheck long enough, and are expected to get out soon.

raysaikat, and others, can we call a truce and focus on the original intent of the thread? I am sure we can all agree that the top 5 % of the worst university (does not matter which, or where) are usually better than the bottom 5 % of the best university (again, does not matter).
In my life, in our company, I've seen some of the sharpest brains around (PhDs working for the Russian defence before they defected in late 70's and early 80's) and some of the dumbest (a mechanical engineer who refused to believe me when I mentioned the sun was approximately 300000 bigger than the earth in terms of mass and 1000000 times bigger in terms of volume). Believe it or not, I've met a taxi driver who graduated from an Ivy League institution and used to work at NASA in 60s and 70s and worked on developing algorithms for decompressing transmissions. There are all sorts who make the world a pretty interesting, if unpredictable place. :)
You never know whom you are sitting next to on the plane! ;)
Rather than arguing over silly matters, perhaps we should focus on intelligent analysis and if necessary, rebuttal of arguments.
We do not prove anything by arguing over IIT vs Osmania, or North Vs South, but merely conform the worst aspects of Prof. Wadhwa's sweeping generalizations.
I, for one, have serious questions:
A) The video was edited. It is a collection of sound bites. How do we know the context of the statements if we do not have the full transcript?
B) We have no visuals of the charts and figures referred to by Prof Wadhwa.
C) We have no access to the raw data used by Prof. Wadhwa. He may had published it, but I have not seen any of it. (Unless Macaca can ferret out the details.. if anyone can, he is the man!). I have, for instance, basic questions whether immigrants and foreign students were excluded when he (Wadhwa) was counting the openings filled and engineers graduated in US.
I do not mean to offend anyone, nor am I commenting on any country, university, or anything.. so please do not misunderstand me. Let us focus on the what is more important.
