If you read my post carefully, I am suggesting this 'in addition' to what's already on IV's agenda. Why can't we work on this item in conjunction to what's already being worked on? I have started preparing a fraud list from a bunch of websites like desicrunch.com. I noticed that almost 90% of firms reported there are fraud firms and it makes me wonder about the efficiency of local authorities. Also I don't see how targeting blood sucking desi firms would feed the anti-immigrant trolls. I would think we Indians would benefit the most since it would increase our credibility in general. Thanks for considering this idea at least. I would like to know other people's thoughts based on my clarification here. This drive might clean up cases freeing up visa numbers for genuine EB cases from India. Why should I be in line with crooks ahead of me? It doesn't make sense whatsoever.
And yes, my contribution to IV so far as been $1000 and involvement in other drives. Your question to me regarding my contribution made me squirm a bit since you might have categorized me with many of IV's freeloaders. That's just like Americans asking me all the time "Are you on an H1-B visa and do you work for a bodyshopper". :)

If Air France was genuine they should have made everyone stay in the same place or atleast talk to theie department of immigration and arrange a temporary supervised visa and take all people to the hotel.

What if there was a terrorist attack on airport? They will still ask for transit visas for Indians to get outside airport? Best is avoid Europe at all costs and fly direct. Avoid any city in between including middle eastern cities.

Is there anyway we can work on reporting fraud desi consulting companies to the USCIS so the fraud EB applications can be cleaned up from the system? That may help in clearing up the backlog. Believe it or not, many fraud desi firms have sponsored people in EB-2 successfully. I have worked with many such IT 'professionals' who can't speak a word of English and hardly have any idea what's going around them. I am serious here, this should be considered and evaluated. No offence meant to anyone but those who have had a wonderful educational background and don't work for desi 'firms' ought not to worry since this doesn't target them at all. I am just tired of fellow country men/women who have diminished our country's image, especially in the IT industry and am trying to think of solutions in addition to what we already have on IV's agenda.

I am also, stuck in this whole BEC debacle. Mine is Oct 2003 EB3 and still stuck in Labor. And the very fact that the FY 2008 quote availability is very uncertain and we might not be able to apply for I-140/485 for years now makes it even more frustrating.
I am new to this team, so please tell me what I can do anything to help this issue to be raised.

Be pragmatic. How can you ask CIS NOT to raise RFE's for EAD extensions? If they find some thing fishy they would definitely dig the issue. Remember, CIS is not working for you or for me. I cannot stop laughing!
One more thing which I do not understand is how prefiling of AOS is related to Remove\dilute same similar job requirement? If you feel there is so much of importance for your SO COMPLEX CUSTOMIZED REQUIREMENT then why dont you start a new action item and gather people?

Without strengthening AC21 if you allow everyone to file AOS then anti eb folks like Grassley, Sanders, Sessions, Durbin will move from targeting H1b to targeting EAD. It takes 6 months to get Perm approval, with pre filing AOS everyone can get EAD in 6 months, anti eb folks and USCIS know that people will be jumping to EAD to escape H1 crackdown, what do you think they will do, they will add amendments and Bills to put restrictions on hiring EAD just like they put restrictions on hiring H1b. We cannot make EAD into another H1b like hell.
Prefiling should be done to give relief to people who missed July fiasco only after
1. Remove\dilute same similar job requirement
2. Make sure EAD is extended without any rfe. USCIS will invent thousand things to issue rfe, EAD should be in a different league to h1 and it should not turn into another h1 where you are slapped with rfe left right and center. Example Pay stub rfe, ability to pay rfe, customer Purchase order RFE etc etc etc, Green card holders don’t have any problem working in these same jobs so why should EAD people face this nonsense (otherwise it is just like h1). Before people complain this will become like a green card, lets me answer in advance, if a person from ROW can get his green card within 12 months of coming to US, why cannot people from India\china who have worked in US for the last 5 to 10 years get the above mentioned relief on EAD. I am not sure if it's that easy to figure out from wage level whether PERM Labor falls under EB2 or EB3 category as there are PERM with wage level IV and Job Title Welder (which I assume cannot fall under EB2 category) and besides that for Microsoft out of 1200 labor only 44 are under Level IV.

Are there any immigration bills that IV supports? What are they? What is IV going to do to get them through? What does IV expect from the lobbyist?

It has to be something concrete though. "IV will improve the EB immigration process" is not enough. E.g. "IV will contact all senators in support of XYZ". "IV will make sure there is constant media attention to our problem" etc.

I am preparing I131 (AP) renewal application for me and my family. For my son, who is 8 years old, do I need to fill "Part 9. Signature of Person preparing the form, if other than the applicant" since I am preparing this form? OR can I just sign Part 8 on-behalf of my son?

Here is the deal, the idea of state chapters is for grass roots organization. We can't reach out to everyone if we don't have remote hubs, it is as simple as that. We recently revived the WA state chapter and I keep sending emails, one or two respond, the rest are silent readers. However they did join the group and we are now 30+ members. Now, we plan to have a conference call and then we are planning to get together within 2 weeks to meet all of these members. No one is forced, but we would send out and invitation to every member. Then we come out with certain agendas and action items that fall within IV goals. Like one of the main things is to meet local law makers within each state for follow up. This is best done at state level. So I understand the part that you care confused is nothing is happening and you just keep writing. I know the feeling but can you get everyone together, can you get to meet them one by one. Trust me, once you get the ball rolling, before you know, you will have a big strong chapter that makes it easier to pass targeted messages and so on. When IV events are held in a national level, information and action items can be distributed to state chapter leaders who can then follow up.
But yes, it is hard work in the beginning to get every one on board, trust me, I am fighting the same battle, but hard work pays off!

We filed married filing joingly and received our tax returns and no stimulus rebate. Can we re-file our tax return by filing separately this year (i.e. extension/amendment within 3 months?) Has anyone done this? Please let me know.
I noticed that if you itemize your deductions, you dont loose much even if you file "married filing separately".

Please check with your lawyer but as per my understanding, your wife needs to be in 'status' to be added as a dependent on the 485. Since she is on H1B, she is already in 'status'. There is a separate thread for documents required for 485. Check there.
