On a serious note though, You provided so many ways that money is being raised by running marathons, funding drives etc etc...but come on, where on this website or anywhere else is it mentioned how this money is being spent??
You are 'high-skilled' and in this country based on your merit. I urge you to display some anlytical and rational thought process here. If you google for about 30 mins you would know that IRS has strict rules/regulations on how 'for profit organizations' or 'non-profit organizations' are supposed to pay taxes, maintain books etc. In the about us section of IV, it is clearly mentioned "As a 501(c)(4) organization, Immigration Voice is obligated to file tax returns with the IRS and have its accounts audited by a CPA."
Now let me ask you this: are you saying IV should display its audited accounts on the website in clear view so that the opponents of what IV stands for can counteract everything that this org does ? If you do not believe in the systems established in this country like CPA, Audits, IRS etc then you have more serious problems than what you post here.
Supporting the cause is NOT equal to giving IV money. The republicans already tried something similar ..."If you are anti-war, you dont support the troops"..That was fallacious and so are all the personal attacks on the "freeloaders" (like myself ofcourse).
Please do not indulge in hyperbole to make your points. Show me a single thread or post which encourages this so-called "you are with us if you donate or against us" ?

Most EB2's who are talking on this forum are idiotic, egostic and too much of themselves to think straight. Case in point Smugbee, SNathan and TonyHK. Since they don't have ead they want ead and thats all they care about. As long as they get to file 485 and get ead they dont care.
When an eb3 complains about waiting for GC he/she is a whiner and has to recognize the superiority of an EB2 getting GC before EB3 even if teh EB2 is 1 year in thsi country and EB3 has been waiting for 12 years.
When an eb2 complains about not having ead his concerns are valid and nothing else is more important on IV thean that

I know IV is doing its best and there are other groups fighting for HR 5882.
But honestly, what are the chances for this bill to succeed this year (before election)?
-- The July 2007 visa bulletin reversal.
-- FBI name check
-- 2 yr EAD
These are all changes that happened because people brought it to the attention of lawmaker and administrators. Before I get complaints, I am not saying IV solely gets credit for it. Whatever the mechanism for change, it happened because the immigrant community worked together and fought to get relief.
We have to continue to work together, otherwise its status quo and be stuck in the mess.

My greatest friend buddyinsfo, where were you for so long. I missed you all this time. How are things going man. How r the kids doing? I miss you on this forum buddy, you got to show up often, please.
You jerk, EVERY non profit need resources to "DO" stuff. EVERY non-profit has to have a revenue stream of some sort. Just because its a "non-profit" doesn't mean that everyone will give or do stuff free for a non-profit. Is that so difficult to understand for a "highly educated"/"highly skilled" immigrant such as yourself? The bandwidth you used to write your post for the audience of the world wide web, that was paid for by my hard earned $$$$. You want this group of folks to do stuff but you don't want to part with a dime. Nice.
But hey, who cares, lets get back to our favorite topic - complain about someone about something, shall we. Lets blame someone and vent out my frustration before I go to bed. If nothing else, it will be therapeutic. Idiot.
.
Is this the language 2 civilized people use to discuss or debate. When 2 people debate, both believe other is not right - thats why its called discussion or debate. Doesn't mean we need to use extreme or bad words.

hi guys,
have you seen this link??

search for text "Reminder". the point no. 15.
i think that paragraph is a bit relieving...
what do you infer from it??
Reminder: The best way to locate records is through the receipt number and/or the A-Number. Always provide this information whenever possible. If you don't know the A-Number, provide a COMPLETE name and date of birth. ALSO: Provide ANY AND ALL names used by the individual, including aliases, maiden names, names used when originally admitted to the United States, etc. Providing this information is extremely helpful and speeds up processing time.

I just went through the number of members in the IV org. To my surprise I found 21,353 members. If atleast each of the member contribute atleast $5, we could easily hit above $100,000. But I am sure we all can contribute far more than $5.
What a shame that the educated highly qualified H1B holders who haven't contributed anything so far don't get it. Come on guys/girls contribute in some way...come to the rally or sponsor someone if you can't make it or atleast contribute some money. You don't want to feel guilty all throughout your life thinking you were just a free-rider.
Take advantage of this great opportunity, BECAUSE OPPORTUNITY LOST IS LOST FOREVER. IT SELDOM KNOCKS TWICE.

First of all, based on the information you provided i believe that
1. You are continuously employed WITHOUT any gap, meaning working 40 hrs/ week and clean history of pay stubs, W2s etc
2. You have been working for only one employer at any given point of time, as a full time employee
IF What i said above is true, then RFE makes no sense. because based on the H1B rules and regulations, one can have multiple H1Bs BUT can only work for ONE employer as full time, meaning 40hrs/week.
It is also completely legal that one can work up to 20hrs/week for second employer by paying proper taxes . but in your case i believe that you have worked for only one employer and i think you can show the evidence.
Please contact your attorney and draft a response carefully
Please correct me if were wrong
Thanks Satya. Your two assumptions are correct.

To pbojja, if you think being concerned about fraud desi companies and highlighting issues we can resolve easily (like English classes) is being disrespectful to one's fellow country men/women, then I must not have put forward my point clearly. I never said that only English speaking skills were required to be a good professional. However, they are important tools for effective communication. Not every desi IT professional in the U.S. is a developer and is in roles which do require good English speaking skills. Anyway, I didn't mean to be disrespectful to anyone.
To sri1309, I never meant to digress from existing items on IV's agenda. All I am saying is that the backlog might get cleaned up a bit if we are able to assist in weeding out fraud cases.
stuckinmuck I understand what you say but I dont understand how can you eliminate the problem with so called fraud desi companies , probally they have few hundreed at the most few thousands . In the bigger picture its a bigger issue than few thousand . How can you justify a ROW guy just did masters and working for an year get his GC under EB2 ROW . Its suppose to be employment based not education based ..
If a company hires a guy with poor English skills , they might have liked some thing else in him ...Not all Indians are same, no single individual represents a country so dont worry about poor communicating Indians around you .

EB3 porting is a loophole like labor substitution.
when I came here 6 yrs ago, I had the option of applying in EB3 with a top 4 consulting US firm and I did not want to go that route. I waited until 2010 to apply in EB2.
Looks like People should come to the US as freshers or with 1-2 yrs experience > Apply in EB3 > Gain 5-6 yrs in experience > Port and BOOM, you have your GC.
How can people claim PD porting at a later date when they were not eligible on that specific date in the first place at that time? I know it's legal just like Labor Substitution.
Thats what i am saying. Agreed.
Reminded of Hannity show. Two idiots coming together and agreeing on stupid stuff. Again, you need to review your core concepts. It is NOT about "eligibility" in terms of a paper degree. Dont assume you know what was in the minds of the people that made the laws.

Frist Pushes For Quick Vote On Immigration
Majority Leader Bypasses Committee
By Jonathan Weisman, Washington Post Staff Writer, Friday, March 17, 2006; A04
Frustrated by the Senate Judiciary Committee's slow progress on politically sensitive immigration legislation, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) introduced his own bill last night to secure the nation's borders and crack down on illegal immigration.
Frist's bill will go directly to the full Senate. But he said he will allow Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) to substitute a committee bill if Specter's panel could approve one March 27. Otherwise, the majority leader will stick to a strict, two-week schedule to finish work on what he conceded would be "as challenging a bill as any we'll have to address this year."
The majority leader's power move stunned committee Republicans and Democrats, who have been struggling for three weeks to reach agreement on a comprehensive immigration bill. Specter said he objected to the maneuver.
"It would be chaos on the floor to have this bill debated without the committee acting first," Specter said yesterday afternoon, only to grudgingly accept Frist's move in the evening.
Some Republican aides said they believed presidential politics were at work. Frist, a prospective candidate for 2008, left out of his bill the guest-worker program that President Bush has demanded and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) -- a potential White House rival -- has championed. Such a program is unpopular with many conservative voters, who see it as amnesty for illegal immigrants. Many Republicans believe a new law to get tough on illegal immigrants is one of the few pieces of legislation that must be passed before the November elections if the GOP is to maintain the allegiance of conservative voters.
Frist said he was motivated by a belief that only prompt Senate action will allow Senate and House negotiators to reach a compromise on a final bill this year. The House passed in December a border security bill that did not include a guest-worker program.
Senators from both parties have come to near-agreement on provisions bolstering the U.S. border patrol, adding new technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles and raising penalties on illegal immigrants and those who aid them. Sens. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) and John Cornyn (R-Tex.) neared agreement yesterday on a guest-worker program that could smooth the way to bipartisan passage of a Judiciary Committee bill when lawmakers return from a week-long break next week.
Under the deal, Kennedy would agree that illegal immigrants who qualify for a guest-worker visa would have to go to their home countries for a year before applying for a visa extension of three or four additional years. But, Senate aides said, that one-year return could be waived if guest workers' employers said their continued labor was necessary or if a guest worker could prove a consistent work history.
With Democrats, Bush and many Republicans favoring a guest-worker program, immigration advocates say no immigration bill can get out of the Senate without one. But House opponents say they have commitments from Republican leaders that no guest-worker program will be considered on the House floor this year.
